There have been extreme reactions to the movie Dhobi Ghat. Some have liked it, like all Aamir Khan movies in recent times. However, there are a few who didn't like it. And there is nothing wrong in that. This is perhaps the boldest experiment yet from the production house - even more than Peepli Live. 'Peepli' had a rural charm, and an underlying topic to touch the hearts, Dhobi Ghat has none of them.


The english title of the movie, Mumbai Diaries does more justice to name. Its a story about the city of Mumbai, and all those words thrown at you in the trailer of the movie. Its not a story about the protagonists, they are just used as a backdrop. Their own tale is incidental to the movie, and it could have been others in their place as well. We do not know much about any characters in the end, apart from the city. Anyone who has 'lived' in Mumbai, would relate to a lot of things - the relentless rains, the trains, the pace, the crowd, etc. Its a take on Mumbai from different eyes - the eyes of the four lead characters in the movie.


If you are in love with Mumbai, may be this is a must watch for you. There have been many movies made professing their love for the city, and this may be the best amongst them. For all the Aamir Khan fans, this may be a let down as it isn't an Aamir Khan movie. In fact, he may be the most insignificant of the four characters in the movie.

Right from his debut film Kaho Na Pyar Hai to Lakshya and Krissh, he has proved his mettle as being one thoroughbred performer. So has he done with his upcoming release. Keeping his perfection intact in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish, Hrithik Roshan has slogged day and night to fit into the character of the magician that he plays in the film.

He actually ceased all his physical exercises and gym sessions for a couple of months at a stretch before shooting started. Well, you must be guessing that that why would health conscious man like Hrithik Roshan do that for? The answer to it is that since he plays the role of a magician in the film, who suddenly develops a disease and gets paralyzed, he was supposed to look the character by putting on a lot of weight.

This was definitely not an easy task for him. Hrithik who is admired for his toned physique has actually put in a lot of efforts to gain weight for the film. Amusingly the star had to eat and drink everything that a top rated star is not expected to eat like vada pau (fried cutlet and bread), samosa etc for months together.

However, this was a treat for him as he got a chance to relish all these foods to his hearts content as he must not have tasted them for years despite loving them so much. This role of a paraplegic gave him an excuse to just gorge on every bit of food that he could lay his hands on. Thus we get to see a plump Hrithik in the film.

Madhuri Dixit will be judging Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 4

The original dancing queen of Bollywood Madhuri Dixit has been missing from the limelight for quiet some time now. However, the actress is all set to make a comeback on the small screen as the judge of a reality show.

She was last seen in YRF productions Aaja Nachle, which turned out to be a huge box office dud. This Bollywood actress will be assessing other people on their dancing abilities on the fourth season of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, which is an Indian adaptation of Dancing with the Stars.

When asked Madhuri about this she says, “Dance has always been my passion and this show is also associated with that and this is the only reason I decided to be a judge on it. It took me a while to say yes. After I went back to LA and saw Dancing with the Stars, I was convinced to take this offer.”

Our very own Dhak Dhak girl will have the company of Remo D’Souza in the panel of judges. The name of the third judge has not been reveled yet, but there are rumors that Saroj Khan may join the panel. “I have no clue who the third judge is and it will be the decision of Sony. But it will be good for me if Sarojji is the third judge. I am keeping my fingers crossed,” says Madhuri.

As a judge for the dance show, she will be concentrating on the participants poise, grace and the attitude, rest of the details will be left for the other judges. Madhuri says, “The participants on this show are well-known in their own fields. They are people who are very ambitious and will put in their best for winning this challenge. I will be looking at how they project themselves and bring their personalities in the performance.”
